The Concert as Learning Space A&H 5199, Sect. 001 CRN 52072, is a 2- or 3-point cross-program course in the Department of Arts and Humanities that explores the role of the concert both as a resource for pedagogical practice and as a manifestation of the cultural life of the city. The course is designed for teachers, arts administrators, and “live music” advocates interested in concerts as spaces for learning, teaching, community outreach and personal growth. Students in the course attend live performances designed for diverse audiences in New York City concert venues and schools. Our active collaboration with several NYC performing organizations and schools ensures that our students interact with cultural leaders who hold outreach and educational positions.

The course will be taught by Dr. Dwight Manning, meets for 15 sessions on Wednesdays 7:20 – 9:00 pm and Feb. 2 and Apr. 13. Course fee: $130.
